AROD (IRE) gained his first win since returning to the UK when making all to take the Listed feature at Windsor on Monday. The now seven-year-old moved to the Chris Waller stable at the end of 2016 and gained two Group 3 placings before returning to David Simcock the following summer.

Challenged inside the final furlong by favourite Oh This Is Us (IRE), a son of Acclamation, AROD (IRE) battled back to win by a neck, with two and three quarter lengths back to Khafoo Shememi (Ire) in third. This was a third black-type success for the Qatar Racing-owned entire, who also ran second at Group 1 level in the Sussex Stakes three years ago.

Bred by Kabanks Ltd and Rathbarry Stud, AROD (IRE) was sold to David Redvers for €170,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale. By Kildangan Stud sire Teofilo (IRE), he is a related to three black-type horses out of the winning mare My Personal Space, herself a half-sister to dual Group 3 winner Far Lane. Further down the line, his pedigree includes three-time Grade 1 winner Annoconnor, Melbourne Cup hero At Talaq and Racing Post Trophy victor Marcel (IRE).
