BLOND ME (IRE) won the prestigious Grade 1 EP Taylor Stakes at Woodbine in Toronto on Sunday evening, landing a coup for, among others, breeders Mark and Elaine Clarke of Wardstown Stud in Athboy, County Meath.

The five-year-old chestnut mare has become something of a specialist on the international circuit, winning a valuable Group 2 race in Istanbul last year before her crowning achievement at the weekend in Canada. She is reportedly on course to farewell the racetrack in the hugely valuable Hong Kong Cup in December before retiring to the breeding shed.

Owned by Barbara Keller, BLOND ME (IRE) is by Derrinstown Stud’s versatile sire Tamayuz. Her last two half-siblings by Clodovil (IRE) and Holy Roman Emperor (IRE) both fetched €58,000 and €60,000 respectively at the Orby Sale.

Also arriving over the course of the weekend was a good result for Coolmore stallion Footstepsinthesand in Argentina with DON CHULLO winning the Grade 1 Gran Premio Suipacha over five furlongs.
