The Niarchos Family enjoyed a double as owners and breeders on Wednesday’s card at Dundalk, with both winners ridden by Donnacha O’Brien; one for brother Joseph and another for father Aidan. The younger of the Group 1 winning trainers provided the first success with the three-year-old fillyDILMUN, who took the mile maiden by two lengths and three quarters. Her rider later described her as ‘a nice filly’ and said that the daughter of War Front would get further in time. She is the first foal out of Grade 3 winner Pachattack, who is a grand-daughter of Group 1 performer Ajfan.

Completing the double in the mile and two furlong maiden wasDIODORUS (IRE), who Flaxman Stables own in partnership with Coolmore. Listed placed at two, he was last seen finishing third in a Leopardstown maiden and the second horse that day, Clongowes (IRE), since won the valuable Ulster Derby and a handicap at the Curragh on Derby weekend. His maiden victory came by a neck, as he was pushed to the line by the improving Winston Wolfe (IRE). By champion sire Galileo (IRE), DIODORUS (IRE) is a half-brother to Group 3 Prix Eclipse winner Eightfold Path, out of the top-class Kingmambo mare Divine Proportions, who was crowned champion filly in Europe at both two and three for her five Group 1 wins. She is a half-sister to fellow multiple Group 1 winner Whipper, from the family of Shirley Heights.
