LAND FORCE (IRE) continues to improve with every run and captured his first pattern victory in Thursday’s Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Successful in a maiden in May, Aidan O’Brien’s colt was next placed at Listed level, then a close third in the Norfolk Stakes at Ascot, before winning a Listed contest at Tipperary by two lengths in July.

His latest success saw him beat recent Group 3 winner Marie’s Diamond (IRE) by a length, with just a neck back to Shine So Bright in third. The Gimcrack Stakes is next in a long list of entries for LAND FORCE (IRE), who is the first Group winner by his sire, No Nay Never, who stood for a fee of €25,000 this season. Bred by Mrs Evie Stockwell, the colt cost Coolmore partners €350,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale and is a half-brother to dual Grade 1 winner Photo Call (IRE).

Their dam, Theann, won at Group 3 level and is a Rock Of Gibraltar half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Halfway To Heaven (IRE), also known as the dam of top-class filly Rhododendron (IRE). The second dam, Cassandro Go (IRE), had the speed to win three top sprints and is a half-sister to Irish 2,000 Guineas victor Verglas (IRE).
