ITM Irish Stallion Trail

The ITM Irish Stallion Trail is an annual showcase for the Irish thoroughbred breeding industry, with stallion farms across Ireland opening their doors to breeders, racing professionals, and racing fans on two days in January of each year.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the ITM Irish Stallion Trail could not take place in its usual format in 2021. The event was adapted to the ITM Irish Stallion Showcase 2021, a digital and media event highlighting the success and appeal of Irish stallion farms. ITM Irish Stallion Showcase 2021 video content can be viewed here.

We look forward to returning to the usual Trail format in 2022!

In normal times, over 25 stallion farms participate in the Trail, which has been running for six years. Studs participating in the Trail in 2020 included Ballylinch, Boardsmill, Castlehyde, Coolmore, Derrinstown, Gilltown, Irish National Stud, Kildangan, Rathasker, Rathbarry & Glenview Studs, Yeomanstown, and many more. Some of the world’s greatest stallions of both the Flat and National Hunt were on display, including multiple champion Flat sire Galileo (IRE), leading National Hunt sire Kalanisi (IRE), multiple Group 1 sire Dark Angel (IRE), and four-time Ascot Gold Cup hero Yeats (IRE). There was also an exciting group of new stallions to be viewed, including Royal Ascot hero Blue Point (IRE) and Classic winner Phoenix Of Spain (IRE).
