Three Irish EBF Barrier Trial dates announced for 2025

Three Irish EBF Barrier Trial dates announced for 2025 Hill Road wins his trial at Naas in May 2024 before going on to win on debut at Leopardstown and later running third in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

Last year was the best yet in terms of participation and horses sold abroad unraced and we would love to generate similar trade this year.

Charles O'Neill, ITM CEO

Irish EBF Barrier Trials are soon to return with three dates approved from May to August.

Naas will again host the first day on Monday, May 26 on the inside track over six and seven furlongs, with Dundalk staging middle fixture on Monday, July 7. The final date is set for Leopardstown on Wednesday, August 27, again over six and seven furlongs.

As in the past, each fixture will be restricted to named and unraced two-year-olds and three-year-old with stalls certificates.

“We are grateful to everyone involved for giving us the go-ahead to put on three more days of trials. Last year was the best yet in terms of participation and horses sold abroad unraced and we would love to generate similar trade this year,” said Charles O’Neill, CEO of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing.

ITM has run the Irish EBF Barrier Trials under the supervision of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board since 2018 to meet significant international demand for quality horses that remain officially unraced.

IRIS will again be on hand to broadcast them live on YouTube, while videos of each batch will be uploaded to social media channels immediately afterwards.

The forthcoming dates will be advertised on the HRI RAS entries webpage around two weeks in advance with entries opening shortly afterwards.
